This light has been great for a low tech planted tank setup. For reference, I have 15 aquariums of various sizes all are planted, with a couple running CO2. This light looks great while also being more than adequate to grow low light plants in the aquarium.. The timer feature and the ability to change light colors are nice too. Though, I only use the white light full spectrum for plant growth.
I bought this light to help with my aquatic plants. I am an avid plant lover and my rooms are full of monsteras and snake plants, but I have never owned a fish tank or cared for aquatic plants before. This light is the best decision I have ever made! I bought all kinds of beginner plants, along with frogbits and other floating types, and they have multiplied since I installed this light. The moonlight mode is a nice touch and we keep it on at night. We have a couple of ghost shrimp that only come out during that mode which is cool. I highly recommend!
Okay folks,
I finally figured this out. There is a timer and it does work. Just not the way I figured it would. First, to set it. Without the timer on, pick the brightness of the daylight and the moonlight you wish for it to be at. Then you can only start the timer at the time you want it to come on. (So if you want it to come on at 7am, you must start the timer at 6:30am) from 630 to 7am, that's your 10steps up then it stays at whatever brightness you selected until the end of timer 6,9,12hr and goes into moon mode immediately no 30min stepdown.. the moon stays on all night no power off.. SOOO with this being said, for the price it's not that intelligent. It's a great light if you are okay with full spectrum light just 7 brightness levels, you cannot select any other color. I raised my rating as it is a great light, just not advanced for the price.
